Hypnotherapy, the common-sense method of attaining your goals. Ready to get better?
Practical Hypnosis is dedicated to making your life easier and happier. There can be hundreds –– maybe thousands!––of reasons to see a hypnotist, and each program is designed based on the client's unique needs. But what all the programs have in common is the first step: to find and solve the inner conflicts that won't let you get out of your own way.

Interview Q&A
What is your primary product or service?
Hypnosis is an effective technique for achieving an almost infinite number of goals! See my website under Services for a very long list of areas in which hypnosis can have an impact. But most people come in because they want to lose weight, stop smoking, improve their sports skill, boost their confidence and self-esteem, achieve greater success in their career, lower their stress level, boost their creativity, or they need help with medical issues, such as managing pain or treating sleep or eating disorders. I also teach self-hypnosis to my clients, so they can continue to help themselves after our sessions have ended.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
I came to hypnosis as a career the same way many hypnotists do. I was hypnotized myself, for asthma. I had terrible asthma for years, and in order to keep breathing––literally––I had to take several medications every day, with nasty side effects. After several years of this, I was miserable, and desperate enough to schedule a couple of sessions with a hypnotist, despite being pretty skeptical.
I felt a subtle difference right away. Then I was taught to do self-hypnosis, and sent home with instructions to find a quiet place and hypnotize myself twice a day, using the suggestions the hypnotist had given me.
Two months later, I didn't have asthma anymore. It felt like a miracle, but what I had experienced was the mind's power to heal the body.
Before becoming certified in hypnosis, I worked for many years as a journalist and writer (I still write fiction and book reviews), for newspapers including the Boston Globe, the Forward, the New York Observer, the New York Post, the Jerusalem Post, the Jewish News; magazines including the Atlantic Monthly; and on-line media including Salon.com.
Journalism might sound completely unrelated to hypnotherapy, but it isn't: Just as writing is all about telling stories, the hypnotist's job is to figure out what negative assumptions and stories a client has been telling her- or himself, often since childhood. And the way you get rid of toxic stuff like that is to help the client create a different narrative that's healthier and happier.
It sounds simplistic, but dramatically improving people's lives often comes down to simply helping them reframe their history in a way that gives them confidence, and redefines their goals as plausible and achievable. And in a way, I've been training to do that all my life.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
As far as I can tell, there are NO other hypnotists on the Outer Cape, from Orleans all the way out to Provincetown. There are plenty of hypnotists all over the Cape, except for this one area.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
Right now I have an office on Main Street in Orleans. I have the option of taking an office part-time in Provincetown, if that turns out to be more convenient.
What type of payments do you accept?
Cash, checks
Which areas do you service?
I expect most of my clients will come from the Lower and Outer Cape: Brewster, Orleans, Eastham, Wellfleet, Truro, and Provincetown. Of course, l would be happy to see clients from all over the Cape.
Who owns your company or runs daily operations?
I own and run the company.
What are your hours of operation?
My official hours are Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. However, I am very flexible and have no problem seeing clients later at night or on weekends, if necessary.
What is the best compliment anyone can give you?
"I like myself so much better now! You've really helped me change my life."
What is your favorite quote or Bible verse?
"Be kind, for everyone is fighting a great battle." –– Philo
